Chelsea striker Diego Costa revealed today that he has been informed by Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte that his services are no longer required.
Diego Costa played a vital role in Chelsea’s push for the English Premier League season last season with 20 goals. But will no longer play a part in the club’s campaign next season.
“I’m no longer needed Chelsea, the manager doesn’t want me” He revealed after Spain’s game.
“Conte told me in a text message that I won’t be a part of the team next season. That’s it. He informed me that he won’t be needed me in the team next season”.
“I have had a bad relationship with Antonio Conte all season and it’s a real shame. I have sent the message to the management at Chelsea so they can make a decision.
Costa who is originally from Brazil joined Chelsea in 2014 from Atletico Madrid for 32 million pounds.
Back to Atletico Madrid
Costa has not hidden his intention to return to Athletico Madrid but revealed that the transfer ban currently imposed on the club might be a stumbling block to any potential move.
“It will be complicated for me to stay without playing for 5 months but I do love Atletico and love the city of Madrid”.
“It would be great to go back but the World Cup is fast approaching and I need to be active in the field. That’s just it”.
Final straw for Chelsea
Costa was omitted from Chelsea’s squad in January after he was engaged in a dispute with the club’s fitness coach and later linked with a move to Chinese club, Tianjin Quanjian.
It is believed that Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich sanctioned the move by Antonio Conte after getting irritated by Costa’s decision to leave the club in January.
