The Chinese government has stated they will not permit Pokemon Go in their country until further evaluations are done regarding the security risks that come with it.

Pokemon Go serves as a huge hit ever since it came out as an app on the smartphones launched by Niantic, and other reality games have been on the edge of decision yet to be allowed in China.

Pokemon Go was released last year and has amounted to huge success globally, but has not been permitted to be released in China till now due to their censorship regulations.

Reality vs Game

During a game of Pokemon Go, the player walks all around his/her neighborhood and other regions in order to collect more and more virtual cartoon characters that appear on the screens of their smartphones, and they go on scavenger hunts as displayed on the screen.

However, due to the nature of the game, the Pokemon Go app has come under heavy fire and blames for leading to several car accidents in which several have been reported as critical and severe, as well as criticism concerning the geolocations that affect the privacy of the players.

Threat of Pokemon Go

The game’s procedures have resulted in several concerns and examinations just as to how safe this game is and the threat it has imposed on people’s lives due to the invasion of people’s properties and the threats regarding people’s locations due to the geolocation aspect of the game.

“These risks include the threat to geographical information security and the threat to transport and the personal safety of consumers,” stated the games panel affiliated with the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association.

Since Pokemon Go does rely ultimately on the Maps services provided by Google, it leads to further conflict as Google is blocked by the Chinese government.
