Distinguished 21 year old model, Gigi Hadid, has just revealed to the public one of her physical ailments that she has been enduring.
Hadid announced that she has Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an auto-immune illness, in which the immune system misguidedly starts attacking the thyroid gland. The medication that she been forced to take has taken a toll on her, resulting in unwanted weight loss during the past two years.
Hadid in a board discussion that took place on social media, “My metabolism actually changed like crazy this year,” she said during a recent panel discussion on social media and fitness. Thyroiditis eventually leads to undesirable effects such as weight gain, fatigue, lack of thyroid hormone production, and in many cases a state of depression.
Casting director for Tommy Hilfiger, remarked on Hadid, stating she still wasn’t thing enough. Hadid however does get a kick out of physical fitness, stating that it removes the negative energy from her state of mind.
Boxing is a sport she is quite intrigued with and in reference to the men who go to the gym she said “They don’t care about what my body looks like. They care that I give a good punch, and that’s how I want to be judged. That’s what makes me proud of myself.”
Hadid’s mentioned that is within the premises of the gym that she feels she is finally free of the spotlight on her.
The least favorite of her workouts she mentions was doing squats, and said that one has to do too many squats in order to gets efficient results.
However, she had her own technique so as to practice her commitment in fitness, which was posting sticky notes in her kitchen, and apparently every time she passed by the note, she had to force herself to do 15 more squats. “It’s a good trick because it reminds you that you have to have integrity with yourself. No one else is watching, so I have to just do it for myself.”
