The Golden State Warriors have regained their NBA Championship title after their impressive 4-1 win in the series over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Golden State Warriors ended the series with an impressive 129 – 120 win over their rivals on their home turf as they won their second title in just three years suffering only one loss in the playoffs.
This is also the third time the two sides will be meeting in the Playoffs final as they lost out to the Cavaliers last season after wasting a whopping 3-1 lead in the series. But came out on top the year before and have now repeated that feat.
Kevin Durant: the new king?
Kevin Durant was on fire for the Warriors and was rightly named the Most Valuable Player in the Playoff Finals.
Warriors forward Kevin Durant, 28, was named the Most Valuable Player of the Finals.
“Sleep eluded me for 48 hours because I had a lot of thing running through my mind,” Kevin said after the game
“All I wanted to do is play to and give my best because I have worked hard. I just told myself that I needed to stay calm and everything came through because we were really calm all through.”
Kevin Durant played a huge part in Golden State Warrior’s success this season since he moved from Oklahoma City Thunder the season before. The move has paid off for him as he now has his first NBA title.
He scored a total of 39 points, a score that was closely followed by Stephen Curry who scored 34 points as they ended any chances of a comeback from the Cavaliers this time around.
Kevin Durant got his big break after he was picked by SeatleSuperSonics as their second overall draft pick in 2007 and was greatly criticized for moving to Golden State Warriors last season.
