Prince Harry’s girlfriend has said she feels like the luckiest girl in the world.
In an interview, actress Meghan Markle, who has been dating Prince Harry since earlier this year, said she was worried about appearing too sexy.
Best known for her role in the hit US drama Suits, Ms Markle, 35, said she never wore too many revealing outfits because of advice her mother had dished out while she was younger to “never give the milk away for free”.
It seems that advice to remain coy has paid off as things are now said to be becoming serious between the divorcee and her prince, 32.
Since news of their relationship broke, Ms Markle’s profile has hit new heights. While previously she was a relatively unknown actress outside of the US and Canada, where her show is filmed, her face is now known across the globe.
Coincidentally, it comes as Ms Markle prepares to launch her own clothing line.
She must now hope that rather than driving huge sales of other people’s brands in the way that the Duchess of Cambridge does, she can hugely increase sales of her own fashion range by wearing it and being photographed in public.
Ms Markle has joined forces with the Canadian store Reitmans to release a capsule collection.
She says she is driven to work hard because her family were never particularly well off while she was growing up.
“I was not a girl who grew up buying $100 candles,” she said. “I was the girl who ran out of gas on the way to an audition.”
Her five-piece collection relies heavily on the classic items which a woman can build a wardrobe around. It consists of faux leather trousers, a cashmere poncho, faux leather skirt, a silk blouse and a bodysuit.
Because of her connection to the prince, her entire collection is expected to sell out within a very short timeframe.
Once she finishes filming this latest series of Suits, Ms Markle has already said that she plans to spend December seeing family or friends. It would seem that group would now include Prince Harry, although it is not clear where the pair will meet to spend time together over the festive season.
She is then set to head to India as part of work with the World Vision charity, before starting to film another Suits series. “I’m the luckiest girl in the world,” she said.
