According to sources, French police have carried out early morning raids in connection with the Kim Kardashian robbery in Paris last year.
The reality TV star was the victim of a brutal robbery last year. Thieves broke into her Paris residence, tied her up, and stole over $9.5 million in jewellery. Mrs Kardashian was in Paris for fashion week at the time. She was locked in the bathroom with her entourage.
French police acting on newly discovered DNA evidence, raided homes in the Paris and south of France regions.
A source said, “One of the DNA samples matched an individual known to police for robbery and criminal offences, who is considered a major thug.”
Recently, she spoke publically about the incident, stating she thought she was going to die. She said, “They’re going to shoot me in the back. There’s no way out. It makes me so upset to think about it.”
Her words are part of a trailer for the next series of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”.
It is believed the robbers made their getaway on bicycles but one of the gang dropped a pendant. It is believed to be worth about $30,000. It was handed into police several hours later.
Following the robbery Kardashian was filmed without giving her consent. She lodged a formal complaint, her lawyers saying in October the video was made “without her consent or the police’s and while the police were investigating the crime scene”.
Mrs Kardashian is a social media smash with 50 million followers on Twitter and 90 million on Instagram.
A month after Mrs Kardashian was robbed; another robbery was carried out in France. Two Qatari women were held up on a motorway just outside Paris.
The women, who were in their 60s, were robbed of valuable worth $5 million dollars. They had just left Le Bourget airport when their Bentley was held stopped and they were sprayed with tear gas.
