Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal is set to be the number one tennis player once again as his only rival to the world number one throne Roger Federer has withdrawn after sustaining a back injury during the Cincinnati Masters.
It was believed that Roger Federer would win back the top spot after his Wimbledon win but all is now set for Rafael Nadal to get the top spot from British star, Roger Federer.
Federer suatined an injury during his game against Alexander Zverev. Andy Murray also pulled out of the competition last week due to a hip problem.
Nadal who won the French Open last two months will return to the top of the men’s chat after his game on Monday.
He lost out of the Rogers Cup to youngster Denis Shapovalov
Roger Federe spoke to the press after the game and revealed how painful it was for him to pull out from the competition.
“I am sorry I had to pull out of this competition and I already had a great time with the fans and it is sad that I am going to miss it.”
“It was quite unfortunate that things happened the way it did and now I need to rest.”
Top Players Injury List Increase
The masters in Cincinnati precedes the US Open, which is the last Grand Slan this year and kicks off the 28th of August.
Federer now joins the list of top 10 players who have pulled out of tennis this year because of injury issues.
