The Kepler space telescope has effectively made a fantastic number of discoveries amid its eight years of watching the skies. It just conveyed what could be its most fascinating discovery yet – 20 new exoplanets that have a good chance of being inside the zone of their stars that supports life, including one that has an orbit near that of Earth.

The discoveries were made by a team of International scientists filtering through the immense wealth of information that Kepler has obtained. The planets found aren’t yet wholly confirmed – on account of a glitch in Kepler’s mind of the spot in the sky where the new planets were discovered – however, the researchers are considerably confident that they exist, and some of them are conceivably habitable.

Facts about the exoplanets

Researchers discovered the exoplanets from the information gathered by the powerful Kepler space telescope that uncovers the universe orbit stars like our Sun.

Kepler group leader Jeff Coughlin said that one exoplanet was fascinating with a rotation of 395 Earth days and a relative size, while another only had a circle of 18 days.

The Earth-like plant was around 97% the size of Earth with a comparable atmosphere to our own tundra areas.

In spite of the fact that it had a crisp atmosphere, it was sufficiently warm to hold fluid water, a fundamental element of life support.

One of the planets, assigned KOI-7923.01, orbits just like the Earth orbits the Sun. The new planet’s stars are substantially cooler, and as a result of its situating it’s in reality prone to be a cold, rough world, yet at the same time sufficiently warm for life to exist. The most exciting thing is that its rotation gives the planet a year traversing 395 Earth days, which is, near what people appreciate on our planet.

An additional observation from ground-based researchers will be expected to illustrate the 20 new planets and affirm their existence without a teensy fraction of doubt. However, it’s looking entirely great.
